The type of support on the recliner with lift chair depends on the design, size and amount of support or softness desired. The quality and quantity are perhaps the most important feature of a recliner with lift chair. The main spring systems used in all upholstered furniture including recliner with lift chairs are; eight way hand tied and no sag, no sag or sinuous springs, and other types such as coils. Eight way hand tied and no sag spring systems for recliner with lift chairs are considered a sign of quality due to their comfort and durability. These coils are attached to the webbing on the bottom of the sofa or recliner chair and tied with twine to surrounding coils in eight different spots to prevent shifting. No sag or sinuous spring systems are S shaped wires that are fastened to the front of the rail and run from the front to the back of a piece every few inches. These coils are less costly but necessarily a sign of a lesser quality for recliner with lift chairs. Other types of coils like the single coil, double core coil, zigzag coil, and back springs are 4 way hand tied. (4 way hand tied on a recliner with lift really means in four orthogonal directions.) Padding affects the comfort and durability of the recliner with lift chair. The frame should be padded in such a way so the padding doesn’t touch the frame. All cushions should fit snugly and buttons sewn on securely. The padding on the seat, seat back and arms of the recliner with lift chair should all be hand sewn.
