Patient Floor Lift Usage

Whether at home or in a hospital or some type of nursing facility the purpose of a patient floor lift is to transfer a person from one point to another without any assistance from the person. Patient floor lifts are for those people who cannot lift themselves for whatever reason.

There are several different types of patient floor lifts. However the overall qualities of a patient floor lift is that the height range allows for lifting from the floor and from higher surfaces. The patient floor lift should have base legs that adjust easily and securely lock into position. All moving parts on the patient floor lift should be covered so as to reduce the risk of pinching or poking. Ideally the patient floor lift should be able to swing 360 degrees.

A battery powered hydraulic patient floor lift allows for movement from floors and higher surfaces. A removable battery pack on the patient floor lift reduces down time and allows for quick charging. There should always be a manual response on a patient floor lift for immediate response to a sudden power loss. The patient floor lift should be able to use several different types of slings.

Heavy duty patient floor lifts are for those individuals up to 600 pounds. The battery powered heavy duty patient lift provides a safe alternative to manual lifting. When lifting patients irregardless of their size dignity should always be maintained. When using a patient floor lift make sure that the individual in properly clothed, no loose clothing. Loose clothing can get stuck in the moving parts on a patient floor lift and cause quite a situation. Always remember that if this patient could they would rather move themselves. Patient floor lifts are sometimes referred to as rhino lifts. (I really think we should get rid of that phrase.)

No matter what your circumstance if frequent lifting of a patient is involved then a patient floor lift is right for you. At 1stSeniorCare we carry several patient floor lifts at reasonable prices. If you need further information about patient floor lifts or there use, please call or write us.
