Handicapped Walkers for Improvement of Balance and Stamina

Handicapped walkers at 1stSeniorCare are not simply an apparatus but a freedom generating walking tool in the hands of one who needs freedom of movement. Handicapped walkers generate more than freedom though, handicapped walkers help with self-esteem and self-confidence, especially for those who have not been walking and are beginning rehabilitation with a handicapped walker to increase strength and stamina.

Those handicapped walkers with wheels on the front, a half rollator, are especially useful. The speed you walk is dependent on balance and stamina but the wheeled handicapped walker can improve both simultaneously.  The natural walking movement forward for most walkers improves your balance through the repetitive stepping of walking.

This natural walking movement, which comes naturally in our youth, seemed so easy then. After accident or a long recuperation, walking seems to need to be relearned. Why does walking seem so hard? Part of the difficulty is a confidence factor. We don’t want to re-injure ourselves, self protection.  Telling yourself to begin walking, especially with the wheeled handicapped walker, will allow you to increase the rate of your walking at your own pace.  You won’t be held back from attaining your best speed by the handicapped walker with wheels (rollators) so you can gain stamina in walking more rapidly. You must develop your stamina in walking to be able to regain muscle strength.

The wheeled handicapped walker is a little easier to move, especially over rough terrain. The wider wheels, typically inflatable pneumatic type, improve ground contact and due to their larger diameter, roll more easily over the rough or uneven terrain.  These handicapped walkers are called Rollators due to the wheels that roll.
