At times the terms are used interchangeably. Usually a fast electric scooter is for people who have some higher level of mobility whereas electric powerchairs can be for those with very limited or no mobility. People use the words motorized wheel chair and powerchair interchangeably. The idea is that, the wheel chair or fast electric scooter is propelled under some other means other than the person’s own strength i.e. electric power. As with fast electric scooters, motorized wheel chairs, power wheelchairs, or electric wheel chairs are terms used interchangeably. Fast electric scooters and electric wheel chairs serve different purposes and different options should be considered. Manual wheel chairs usually have some type of push handles that allow a person standing behind the wheel chair to propel and steer the wheel chair. Propelling the fast electric scooter involves moving the fast electric scooter by means of a battery that moves the fast electric scooter motor. A fast electric scooter is more likely to handle curbs, ramps, uneven surfaces and even hills better than a manual wheel chair. A great deal of strength is required to maneuver these surfaces under ones own power. Therefore the power or fast electric scooter assists in traveling over these surfaces. Most fast electric scooters have numerous accessories such as baskets, headlights, rear view mirror, oxygen tank holder to name just a few options. Many of the options for the fast electric scooters are found online in our handicapped equipment catalog.
